Heavy winds caused scattered power outages across the Sag Harbor area on Monday afternoon, prompting some businesses to close up shop early as merchants and residents alike waited for utility crews to restore power.

PSEG reported as many as 771 households without power as of 3:20 p.m. The utility’s outage map in mid-afternoon showed multiple “trouble spots” in the region. A recorded PSEG telephone message for the Sag Harbor area, delivered at around 2:30 p.m., reported that power would be fully restored around 6 p.m.

Businesses including Provisions, BNB Bank and Schiavoni’s IGA were without power while others, such as Apple Bank, were not immediately affected. Sag Harbor Village Hall was running on a generator. Sag Harbor Schools were not affected, according to Superintendent Katy Graves.
