Ronald White and Lillian Tyree-Johnson were reappointed to serve as president and vice president, respectively, of the Bridgehampton UFSD Board of Education at the board’s Wednesday, July 12 reorganization meeting. Mark Verzosa was also sworn in at the meeting after winning an uncontested race for his seat on the school board in May.

While much of the meeting was business as usual, board member Jennifer Vinski expressed concerns about the board accepting a donation of two picnic tables and benches from Jeffrey Wainhause of Art Market Productions. The tables were valued at $200 each. Ms. Vinski said the Market Art + Design international art fair, held July 6 through July 9 at the Bridgehampton Museum, “was a nightmare” for members of the community. She charged the benches were an attempt to “pacify” members of the public, and that she had already contacted local police and fire departments in an effort to prevent the event from returning to Bridgehampton.

While Mr. White said he appreciated Ms. Vinski’s candor, he added her personal feelings were not reason enough for the donation to be turned away.
