The two candidates for New York’s 1st Congressional District seat and for the New York State Senate will face off in virtual debates over the next two weeks, ahead of Election Day on November 3.
U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin and Democratic challenger Nancy Goroff will meet first on Monday, October 19, at 7 p.m. for a debate hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island & The North Fork.
The two candidates will be connected virtually and the debate will be streamed live on Sea-TV’s YouTube channel. The recording will be available on Sea-TV’s YouTube page and website afterward and will be televised at a later time on Sea TV Southampton and LTV East Hampton, which are both broadcast on channel 22 in their respective towns.
Mr. Zeldin, who is seeking reelection to a fourth term in congress, and Ms. Goroff, a Stony Brook University chemistry professor, will meet again on October 26 for a Zoom debate hosted by The Express News Group.
The debate will begin at 7 p.m. A free link to the live Zoom forum will be available on a first-come-first serve basis, with a maximum of 100 live participants, at zeldin-goroff-debate.eventbrite.com. The recording of the debate will be posted on 27east.com following the live event.
The two candidates seeking to replace retiring New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle will meet for a League of Women Voters debate on Tuesday, October 20, also at 7 p.m. The debate, between Democratic candidate Laura Ahern and Republican candidate Anthony Palumbo, will also be streamed live only on the SeaTV Southampton YouTube channel and will be broadcast on local channel 22 stations at a later date and viewable at any time on YouTube.
