New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. has been endorsed by the Sierra Club in his re-election big in the First Assembly District, his campaign announced this week.
The Sierra Club is one of the first large scale environmental preservation organizations worldwide, with three million members and supporters. Notable in its successes, the organization has helped pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.
“I am proud to be endorsed by the Sierra Club and have my work on environmental conservation recognized by such an esteemed organization,” said Mr. Thiele. “I have been a long-time advocate for protecting our natural resources, and given the opportunity, I will remain committed to protecting the environment on behalf of my district and all of New York State.”
In addition to the Sierra Club, Thiele has also been endorsed by the Long Island Environmental Voters Forum, New York League of Conservation Voters, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, New York State AFL-CIO, Long Island Federation of Labor, Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees, Public Employees Federation, Communications Workers of America Local 1108, Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC Endorsement Committee, Suffolk County Correction Officers Association, New York State United Teachers, and Civil Service Employees Association.
