Greene Runs in Foot Locker Cross Country Meet

Pierson sophomore Penelope Greene finished 55th out of 150 runners in the freshman/sophomore race of the Foot Locker Northeast Regional Cross Country Meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Saturday, November 24. Greene, whose time was 21:58.7, said “it was a great experience on a tough course, especially for the first time. There were more hills than I expected.”

Greene will now move to indoor track season, where she will compete alongside athletes at East Hampton High School.

Club Champions Crowned at Sag Harbor

Stuart Kulke and Naree Kokjan-Gormley are the men’s and women’s club championships at the Sag Harbor Golf Club for 2018. They were joined earlier this fall by the senior men’s champion, Jeff Loewi, and the senior women’s champion, Wendy Fairey. Marshall Garypie III was the men’s low qualifier and Richard Lia was the first flight champion. In other news, Bill Rozzi was elected president at the club and Read Vail as secretary and treasurer. The board of governors includes Andrew Linden, Chris Whitney, Tom Ratsep, Liz Granitz and Matt Doris.

It was a banner year for holes-in-one at the golf club, with two of them being double-eagles or albatrosses. Hulke, Mike Barry, Jared Schiavoni and Bruce DeCastro aced the par-three 3rdhole and Ratsep eagled the par-three 8th. John Pearce and Alexa Bennett aced the par-four 4thhole to score double eagles.
