Whalers Close Out Sweep of Greenport, Beat Stony Brook

The Pierson/Bridgehampton baseball team swept Greenport in a three-game series last week, closing it out with a 10-1 road victory on April 12. Pierson (7-3) was led by junior Sam Warne, who struck out eight and allowed just three hits with no walks through five scoreless innings. Senior Aidan Crowley came up a homerun short of hitting for the cycle, with a single, double and triple.

The Whalers were back in action with a three-game series against Stony Brook this week, and knocked off the Bears, 7-2, on Monday with Warne once again on the mound to push his Suffolk County-best win total to five games. Games two was Wednesday after press time, with game three scheduled for Thursday, April 20, at Stony Brook at 4:30 p.m. The team returns home to begin a three-game set against Port Jefferson on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
