The Southampton Hospital Foundation, (SHF), host of the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH) Annual Summer Party, is delighted to announce the 2020, 62nd gala will go ahead, in a new, reimaged format.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the gala, one of the biggest and longest running fundraisers in the Hamptons, will not take place in its usual spot on the fields of Wickapogue Road. Instead, the theme will be “Gala in Your Garden,” with the SHF bringing the party to private homes. The date of the gala will be Saturday, August 1. Working creatively with the local restaurant and florist communities, patrons will be able to help raise money for the SBSH Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department and the Healthcare Heroes Fund, all in the safety and comfort of their own homes and gardens.

A virtual component will bring all attendees together for a toast and some special messages.

“I can’t imagine a moment in our hospital’s history when we could have been prouder to serve this community,” said Robert S. Chaloner, Chief Administrative Office of SBHS. “With many facing so much hardship themselves, this community has come together to provide overwhelming support for this hospital in every way imaginable. We are humbled by this outpouring of support and words cannot express our gratitude.

“As we move forward, we are committed to finding ways for us, SBSH, to support the people and businesses that make this place so special,” he added. “The East End economy has been hit hard, and it is only fitting that this year, we leverage our gala to put something back into the community, and work with local suppliers to put on a night to celebrate our incredible healthcare heroes and raise funds for our indefatigable Emergency Department.”

Full details of the evening, including ticket pricing, will be announced shortly. Donations to the Healthcare Heroes Fund can be made at southampton.stonybrookmedicine.edu.
