‘Solarize East Hampton’ Campaign Extended

East Hampton Town Hall

The Town of East Hampton will continue the Solarize East Hampton campaign beyond the original October 31 sign-up deadline, due to continued strong interest from residents, according to a press release issued last week.

East Hampton residents can have rooftop solar arrays installed at a discounted price offered exclusively through GreenLogic Energy, a local company chosen as the campaign’s designated solar installer. Upon signing up for Solarize, GreenLogic will help home and business owners through every step of the process, beginning with a free consultation, site assessment, and estimate, according to the town.

“We paid nothing out of pocket; roughly half of the total cost will be covered by state and federal tax credits and low interest financing covers the rest,” Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc, who recently installed his own solar grid, said.  “We are meeting all of our energy needs, while also providing clean, renewable energy to the grid.”

“GreenLogic made the process very easy.  They answered all my questions and made sure I would be getting the most out of my rooftop solar system,” said Montauk resident Richard White.

The campaign is part of Energize East Hampton, a renewable energy initiative launched in May 2018 that connects residents and local businesses to programs that help them lower energy bills and consumption, and furthers the town’s efforts to reach its community-wide 100 percent renewable energy goals. Solarize East Hampton is made possible with support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s NY-Sun initiative.

The program is available to building owners in East Hampton, including in the incorporated villages within the town.

Those interested in having rooftop solar panels installed may take advantage of the discounted pricing. More information and sign-up is at EnergizeEH.org/solar, or at the town Natural Resources Department at 300 Pantigo Road, Suite 107, East Hampton.
