Update: The Sag Harbor School District will open with a two-hour delay on Tuesday, according to Superintendent Katy Graves. Ms. Graves said the district will also re-evaluate road conditions at 5:30 a.m. Morning program and morning pre-kindergarten at Sag Harbor Elementary School are cancelled tomorrow.
Junior varsity and varsity boys basketball game scheduled for Monday night have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 9 with JV playing at 4:30 p.m. and varsity following at 6:15 p.m. Pierson will face the Bridgehampton Bees in both games. The state qualifying winter track meet has been moved to Wednesday at Suffolk community Brentwood campus
The Bridgehampton School also announced it would have a two-hour delay as well on Tuesday. The Rainbow School in Bridgehampton will operate on the same schedule.
South Fork school districts and towns closed Monday morning as a blizzard hit the East End — the second snow storm in four days to blanket the region in wet, heavy snow.
Suffolk County under a National Weather Service winter storm warning until 6 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, gale force winds between 15 and 25 miles per hours are expected throughout the day with snow accumulations between six and eight inches expected.
School districts across the South Fork closed on Monday including Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton, Southampton, East Hampton and Amagansett. The Sag Harbor School Board of Education budget workshop and educational meeting scheduled for Monday night has been cancelled, as have all school activities in the district including high school musical auditions for the spring production of “Into the Woods.”
Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman and East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell also closed town offices Monday. North Haven Village is expected to close its offices at noon.
According to Sag Harbor Village Clerk Beth Kamper, Sag Harbor Village offices will close at noon with Monday night’s Harbor Committee meeting also canceled.
