A sale completed this week has yielded the most expensive home sold in Sag Harbor village to date. Ironically, it was sold by the same broker who held the previous record for selling the village’s most pricey abode — Tara Newman.
The sale, through Saunders Real Estate in Bridgehampton, totaled $13,750,000 for an 8,000 square foot waterfront home on Shaw Road. The unidentified couple who purchased it — described as “just regular people who you would see walking down the street” — will change nothing, according to a source. The house, now a Nantucket-style cottage, has been renovated twice in the past ten years and features a pool, views over Shelter Island Sound, a putting green, eight bedrooms, seven baths and a covered outdoor entertaining pavilion. All on a 2-acre gated property.
The previous record sale for a house in the village was $6,850,000 for the Hannibal French house on Main Street. Sold in 2006, it was formerly the home of the late PR guru, John Scanlon.
