Sag Harbor Voters Approve Library Budget, Elect Trustees

Sag Harbor voters overwhelmingly approved the John Jermain Memorial Library’s proposed $3,296,525 budget in voting on Thursday, October 7. The budget, which carries a 2.8 percent spending increase after having been frozen last year, was supported by 81 percent of voters and passed 173 to 34.

Two incumbent trustees, Gloria Primm Brown and William McCoy, whose terms were extended by one year in 2020, were both reelected to two-year terms. Ms. Brown received 186 votes, and Mr. McCoy received 175 votes.

Four other candidates sought three-year terms with incumbent Ann Sutphen receiving 152 votes to lead the way. Daniel Glass, a former board member, received 129 votes and Diane Deger received 124 votes to capture the other two open seats. Steven Reiner received 110 votes.

Two write-in votes were also cast, one for Eric Glandbard and one for Deirdre Guest.
