Sag Harbor Village to Limit Parking to 45 Minutes on Main Street

Main Street in Sag Harbor. DANA SHAW

On Friday, Sag Harbor Mayor Kathleen Mulcahy said she would sign an executive order limiting parking to 45 minutes on Main Street.

Traditionally parking is for two hours on Main Street. The executive order will need to be renewed after five days if the village wants to continue to limit parking to less than two hours.

The announcement comes a week after the mayor limited parking to 30 minutes over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in an effort to promote social distancing in the village. During a work session on Wednesday, some members of the village board — namely Aidan Corish and Thomas Gardella — expressed concerns that a half an hour may not be enough time for people to park, take care of errands and return to their vehicles.
