More than 30 stores throughout the Village of East Hampton will participate in the fifth annual Shop at Sunset from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, August 7. This year’s Shop at Sunset event raises funds to support The Retreat’s dating violence prevention initiatives.
Store owner and Retreat Board President Gail Rothwell and Hamptons Magazine editor Debra Halpert organized the event. Inspired by Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, Shop at Sunset will include refreshments for shoppers, special offers, designer trunk shows, and fashion giveaways.
Participating stores, including Gail Rothwell, J. Crew, White’s Apothecary, and Calypso, will donate a portion of their sales from the evening back to The Retreat.
“We received an overwhelmingly positive response from our retailers in East Hampton, with a record number of stores participating this year,” said Ms. Rothwell. “We are thankful to have a strong retail community that believes in supporting the lifesaving services The Retreat provides.”
The Retreat provides prevention education workshops in local schools as well as a weekly Teen Leadership Project that recently expanded into the Southampton School District. Teens who participate learn about the dynamics of abuse in relationships, strategies for resolving conflict, effective ways to support friends who may be victims of abuse and much more.
