Radical Youth: Fanaticism Explore in ‘Young Ahmed’

In their film “Young Ahmed,” twin Belgian filmmaking brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne tell the story of a Muslim teenager (played by Idir Ben Addi) in a small Belgian town who is radicalized by his imam, much to the distress of his single mother (Claire Bodson).

The film, which won the 2019 Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival, considers the effects of fanaticism on young people and it will be screened by HamptonsFilm as part of its “Now Showing Series” at Guild Hall on Saturday, February 29, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 ($13 Guild Hall members).
