The Pierson field hockey team will once again be the favorite to win the Suffolk County Class C title — which would be its seventh straight. And after losing only two seniors to graduation, the team will try to not only take the county title, but win the Long Island crown for the first time since 2015.

Seniors Madison Stuckart (forward), Caroline Canavan (forward/midfield), and Micky Wilson (defense), are back to lead the team along with returning juniors Meredith Spolarich (midfield), Mia Gangemi (midfield), Eleana Merola (midfield), and Tahnie Sullivan (forward). Returning sophomore Eva McKelvey and freshmen Bella Eldridge and Gillian Tanner will see significant time on the field as well.

Moving up to the varsity this year will be freshman goalie Cali Wilson, forward Hannah Donoghue, defender Sadie Campsey, midfielders/defenders Grace D’Angelo, Issy Farcas, and Cricket Beard, and midfielder/forwards Greylynn Guyer, Lillian Jaeger, and Ashley Stuckart.

Pierson was scheduled to open the season on September 1 at Rocky Point, and visit Comsewogue for a 4:30 p.m. game on September 3 before traveling to Hampton Bays for a game on September 9 at 4:30 p.m. The Whalers won’t host a home game until September 25, when they welcome Greenport for a 2 p.m. game.
