People: Walking Challenge, Vila Makes Dean’s List, Service for David Lee

Walking Challenge Raises Funds for Local Charities

Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB) employees joined together to get healthy and give back. The first BNB “Stars and Stripes Walking Challenge” kicked off on Memorial Day and ran through the summer. Fifty-seven participants logged 5,119 miles, raising $5,600 for local charities.

BNB sponsored the walking challenge as part of a larger bank-wide program to encourage a healthy lifestyle. The program provided employees with an added incentive to improve their health. For each mile walked, BNB committed $1 per mile up to $100 per employee. Employees then were able to choose where their charitable donation would go. Twenty-six local non–profit organizations were selected by employees covering issues of health, the environment, youth programs and the arts among others. Checks were distributed to coincide with the holidays.

“We are extremely proud of our employees. They walked many miles, and not only contributed to their own health, but that of their communities,” said Deborah McGrory, Director of Human Resources.
