Joan Healey Evans passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 30, at the age of 80.
Joan was the mother of Jonathon C. Evans (who passed away in 2011), James G. Evans, Samuel S. Evans and Ian H. Evans. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Ganson, Sam and Ian, her daughters-in-laws Sandy, Amy, Anna and Barbara and her 11 grandchildren Cam, Lee, Jake, Charlie, Tram, Bel, Max, Spence, Mackenzie, Lottie and Cooke.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 2, 1938 and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in Washington D.C. Ms. Healey Evans attended Oklahoma University. She also attended The Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston. After marrying Spencer Evans, she lived in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, then moved to Wilton, Connecticut in 1966. In 2005, she moved to North Haven where she lived for 15 years. Recently she moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Ms. Healey Evans was best known for her work in community activities in Wilton, Connecticut, where she helped start the high school hockey team and the Family Y. Later she started a business “Phone Joan” that provided home, personal and pet services. She was also a real estate agent in Wilton and in Sag Harbor.
A private family funeral service will be held in the spring in Menominee, Michigan. Internment will follow in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery.
