The Bridgehampton School will have about $181,700 coming back to school district coffers this year from 15 surrounding school districts who have students attending the Ross Lower School or Hayground School, for whom Bridgehampton provides school nurses by state law because it is those private schools’ hometown public school district.

Those surrounding districts, located as far as Westhampton and Montauk and even up to Southold and Mattituck-Cutchogue, then reimburse Bridgehampton for the health services used by their respective students attending Hayground or Ross. The Bridgehampton School Board approved health services contracts with those districts at its May 3 special meeting.

The reimbursements amount to about $1,207 per student. East Hampton will pay Bridgehampton back for 32 students, while Sag Harbor will pay for 26 students and Springs will pay for 15 students. Southampton and Shelter Island have 38 and 18 students in private schools in Bridgehampton, respectively.
