Music for Montauk (M4M), a community based, non-profit, brings back its Summer Series August 16 through August 22. Led by Montauk native, Lilah Gosman, and her husband, Miloš Repicky, Music for Montauk will present a series of five outdoor concerts featuring world-class musicians and celebrating the hamlet’s breathtaking vistas.

The series assembles a collaborative of premiere international musicians to create a week of diverse and thrilling musical experiences. Violinist Adda Kridler joins M4M’s Annaliesa Place, Jessica Meyer and Diego Garcia to form the series’ core string quartet. Complemented by clarinetist Ben Fingland, Lance Suzuki on flute and Damian Primis on bassoon, the ensemble grows to form a chamber orchestra with double string quartet, winds and piano for Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.”Cellist Fred Zlotkin joins the collaborative for Schubert’s “String Quintet in C,” honoring M4M’s beginnings and sharing in their future.

The Cuban style dance band, Funky Guajiro will kick off the series at Sole East on Tuesday, August 16 at 8 p.m. The newly reopened Fort Pond House will be home to M4M’s opening free concert event, “Inspired by Shakespeare” on Wednesday, August 17 at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, August 18, a special benefit invoking “Four Elements” will be held at a private residence at 9 p.m.

M4M will return to Third House — Montauk County Park — for two of its larger performances, a family friendly “Rodeo” Concert with the music of Copland on Saturday, August 20, and the Shubert String Quintet to close the series on Monday, August 22. Both events are free, and audience members can bring wine and a picnic, and engage with the music in open air as the shows begin at 6:30 p.m.
