Large House Invasion

Dear Editor:

Your coverage of the LLC invasion (they don’t even use their real names!) of the neighborhoods on the east side of the village led me to wonder why people need 5,000 sq. ft. homes with five or six bedrooms. I bet the majority of them have one or two kids at most and maybe have visitors a couple of times a summer. It seems that the only reason for such megalomania is what we used to call “conspicuous consumption” or what a writer in the New York Times recently called “chest thumping.” All good reasons to support the efforts of the village managers, especially the ARB, and the Save Sag Harbor group to limit oversized buildings and expansions that can spoil our wonderful community.
