Leggard is 100-Meter Runner-up at Division Track Meet

The East Hampton girls track team finished ninth in the Division III Championships, held May 22 and 24 at Comsewogue High School, which were won by Shoreham Wading River, followed by Westhampton and Miller Place.

Pierson senior Allura Leggard placed second in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.51 seconds. She also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with another personal best time of 26.76 seconds, and was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 16’4.25″.

Leggard’s 4×100 meter relay team finished seventh in 53.53 seconds. Pierson sophomore Caroline Jungck also competed, and finished seventh in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:22.86.

The Section XI Championships, also known as the state qualifier, are this Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, at Port Jefferson High School. On the line will be berths in the New York State Championships, which will be held June 9 and 10 at Union/Endicott High School west of Binghamton.
