The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons will host two more candidate debates in advance of the Tuesday, November 6 election.
On Thursday, October 25, from 7 to 9 p.m., a debate will be held between incumbent Republican State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle and his Democratic Party challenger Greg Fischer. Beginning at 7 p.m. Following that session, a second debate will be held that night between incumbent Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., a member of the Independence Party, and Patrick O’Connor, a Republican. The event will take place at the Hampton Bays Senior Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays. Susan Wilson, the co-president of the League and a resident of Southampton, will moderate.
A second debate, between Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin and Democratic hopeful Perry Gershon, will be held by the League on Monday, October 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hampton Bays High School, 88 East Argonne Road in Hampton Bays. That debate, co-sponsored by the Press News Group and the Hampton Bays Civic Association, will be the only live and public Congressional debate on the South Fork. It will be moderated by Cathy Peacock, the League’s Government Committee co-chair, with a panel that includes Press News Group executive editor Joseph Shaw, Sag Harbor Express editor and co-publisher Kathryn Menu and a member of the Hampton Bays Civic Association.
