Katy’s Courage Skate-a-Thon Hits the Ice

At last year's Skate-a-thon for Katy's Courage.

Pull out your ice skates, dust them off and head over to Buckskill Winter Club for the eighth annual Katy’s Courage Skate-a-Thon on Sunday, February 10, starting at 3 p.m. at the East Hampton venue, located at 178 Buckskill Road.

For a refresher course, stop by early for a Learn to Skate Class from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., or regular public skating from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. A Puck Throw will be held at 3 p.m., followed by a figure skating recital by coaches and participating children at 3:30 p.m., and the Skate-a-Thon itself at 4:45 p.m.

Throughout the day, participants may stop by the annual bake sale for treats and choose to partake in a fundraising raffle. Winners will be drawn at 6 p.m., followed by a hockey game. A rain date is set for Sunday, February 17.

“Katy’s Courage is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization honoring Katy Stewart, an inspirational 12-year-old girl who died from a rare form of pediatric liver cancer,” a press release said. “The organization is dedicated to supporting education, children’s bereavement support and pediatric cancer research.”

All proceeds will benefit Katy’s Courage. For more information and registration forms, visit buckskillwinterclub.com or katyscourage.org. Donations may be sent by check to P.O. Box 3251, Sag Harbor, NY 11963.
