The Katy’s Courage 5K will officially kick off the 2017 road race season on Saturday, April 22, at 8:30 a.m. Registration is between 7 and 8:15 a.m. near the starting line on West Water Street. Registration is $25 in advance at katyscourage.org or $30 on the day of the race. Proceeds go toward local scholarships and in support of Katy’s Kids@CMEE, which provides support to grieving children and their families. This will be the 7th annual race for Katy’s Courage, which brought out roughly 800 runners for last year’s race. The course runs through Sag Harbor Village and is flat with very few hills.
Acting on a referral from Southampton Town Police, Southampton Town Animal Control on Monday picked up a deceased caracal, a wild cat native to Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, in Water Mill.
