The residence of one of Sag Harbor’s most famous residents, singer-songwriter Billy Joel, began undergoing a planned renovation on Thursday, May 16, with bulldozers arriving to raze a portion of the building as a part of the approved plans (inset). In September of 2018, the Sag Harbor Village Board of Historic Preservation and Architectural Review signed off on proposed changes to Mr. Joel’s longtime Bay Street residence, made iconic by the hanging buoys on the Rysam Street side of the home.
