On November 29, 2002 — one year after the death of George Harrison — Olivia Harrison and longtime friend Eric Clapton organized a performance tribute in his honor.
Paul McCartney came. So did Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Ringo Starr, and many more.
Held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the evening was filmed and turned into the documentary “Concert for George” by David Leland, which will screen on Saturday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at Bay Street Theater, located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor, as part of the Hamptons International Film Festival’s “Now Showing” series.
On Sunday, March 18, the series will continue with “Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami” from director Sophie Fiennes — who provides an exclusive look into the world of pop culture icon Grace Jones — at 1 p.m. at Bay Street Theater.
