Ferry Road Buildings To Be Demolished Starting Monday

The scene before demolition work began last fall at the property known as 1, 3, 5 Ferry Road. Now cleared, it is set to be purchased by the town for preservation on July 24, 2019.

The buildings located at 1, 3 and 5 Ferry Road in Sag Harbor will be demolished by developer Jay Bialsky on Monday, August 13, at 10:30 a.m., Sag Harbor Mayor Sandra Schroeder announced Monday through a press release.

The demolition is the next step needed for the Town of Southampton to acquire the property through its Community Preservation Fund (CPF) for $10.5 million — a deal finalized by a unanimous vote by the Southampton Town Board in early July. The town has only agreed to take ownership of the property, per its contact with Mr. Bialsky, once the property has been cleared. Once the purchase is complete, the town will own the property but will allow the Village of Sag Harbor to develop and maintain the John Steinbeck Waterfront Park on the 1.25-acre site, located next to the Lance Corporal Jordan C. Haerter Veterans Memorial Bridge.
