Over 50 percent of greenhouse gas emissions are connected to raising and slaughtering livestock. With over 66 billion animals processed for food annually, raising livestock alone takes a tremendous amount of land and resources.

Thanks to a few innovative companies, reducing or eliminating beef from your diet does not mean you have to give up your burger. Both Impossible Foods with its Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger are changing the way a lot of Americans are consuming one of the country’s most popular sandwiches. With an appearance, texture and flavor that mirrors a traditional burger, Impossible and Beyond burgers are finding support in celebrity endorsements and investment and are on menus coast to coast including in theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Even fast food giants like Carl’s Jr. and A&W are catching on, adding the vegan, plant-based burgers to their menus amid growing demand for the product.
