    Event Overview

    The Watermill Center

In Process @ The Watermill Center invites the community to engage with our Artists-in-Residence on Saturday afternoons through open rehearsals, workshops, studio visits, lectures or artist talks.

ANTIGONICK, by 2018 Inga Maren Otto Fellow Anne Carson, is a translation of Sophocles’ Antigone. The original text tells the story of Antigone challenging the injustice of men to obey the laws of the gods and follow her heart, defying the royal edict not to bury the body of her brother, Polynices. Exploring the struggle between the individual and the state, this elegant tragedy about tyrannical power and civil disobedience is considered to be Sophocles’ masterpiece and has become synonymous with political protest. ANTIGONICK is directed by Robert Currie, and features members of the local community.

THAW FEST (The Hamptons Arts Weekend Festival), launches three days of exhibitions, theater performances, film, music, garden tours, workshops, community engagement and family-focused events across member organizations of the Hamptons Arts Network.
