    The Rogers Memorial Library and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital will present a talk titled

    “The Science of Addiction: How Drugs and Alcohol Hijack the Pleasure Centers of the Brain” on Tuesday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. Psychiatrist Dr. Paul Garson, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Director of the Division of Mental Health Services, will discuss how the brain’s reward and pleasure centers may be commandeered by drugs and alcohol, so much so that addiction is now recognized as a chronic disease that changes both the function and the structure of the brain.  Register at www.myrml.org or call (631) 283-0774 x 523.
