The Ellen Hermanson Foundation will host its gala fundraiser, “An Evening of Enchantment” on Saturday, July 28, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton — with entertainment by illusionist and mentalist Alex Voz, cuisine by Jean-Georges, dancing with DJ Double S Productions, selfies by Mirror Photobooth and a live auction with master of ceremonies Nicholas Dawes.
Jodi Wasserman, who serves on the board of directors of Lucia’s Angels and the Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, is this year’s honoree, and philanthropist Jean Shafiroff is the gala chair, along with the Host Committee, which includes The Ellen Hermanson Board of Directors and Friends of the Foundation.
Funds raised at “An Evening of Enchantment” will underwrite accessible mammography screenings and new state-of-the-art medical equipment at The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, as well as its satellite locations in Hampton Bays and East Hampton. Through Ellen’s Well, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation provides social worker-led support groups, nutrition, yoga, reiki and other healing opportunities for breast cancer survivors, free of charge. No patient is turned away from The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center for lack of insurance or inability to pay for treatment.
The Ellen Hermanson Foundation also continues to raise funds to support The Phillips Family Cancer Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, which will be the first and only provider of radiation oncology and chemotherapy treatment on the South Fork.
“Having local access to state-of-the art diagnostics and treatment will be life changing and life saving for all cancer patients on the South Fork,” Dr. Julie Ratner, president of the board of directors of The Ellen Hermanson Foundation, said in a press release. “Last year we made a pledge to fund 10 chemotherapy infusion chairs at $10,000 each and we have three chairs remaining to fulfill our pledge this year. We also continue to raise money to underwrite the latest breast biopsy technology for The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center and to fund Ellen’s Well, our free psycho-social program.
“The need for access to high quality breast care is great,” she continued. “The race is on to raise as much money as possible at ‘An Evening of Enchantment’ and at Ellen’s Run, our signature 23rd annual 5K Run/Walk event.”
Ellen’s Run will be held on Sunday, August 19, at 9 a.m. at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, located at 265 Herrick Road in Southampton. Advance registration is $35 and $25 for seniors and children.
