Voters in Sag Harbor will also be asked next Tuesday to weigh in on a proposition that would allow the village to raise the “length of service award program” (LOSAP) benefit for members of the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps from $20 to $30 a month for each year of service earned after 2019. Volunteers will retain the $20 per month benefit for years served before 2019.
Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps members put in more volunteer hours year after year after year and its numbers have dwindled in recent years. This dedicated group of individuals who volunteer their time, taking them away from family and work, to help others, deserve all the support we can give them. This is a no brainer — a vote “yes” is a vote for helping to sustain volunteerism that supports us all.
