Those interested in seeing the spirit of Sag Harbor and its school community shine should plan on attending Spirit Night at Pierson High School on Friday. Not only do students, teachers and others in the school community come out to provide an electric atmosphere for a pair of varsity basketball games, but Sag Harbor Youth Hoop teams will take center stage in front of a large crowd, the middle and high school choruses will perform and the school’s Robotics Club, which operates mostly behind the scenes, will have the chance to showcase its considerable accomplishments over the last year.

The night also provides an opportunity to support the Sag Harbor Booster Foundation, which is presenting Spirit Night for the seventh consecutive year. The booster foundation, which will run a concessions stand and sell Pierson Whalers gear, is committed to raising funds to support the entire school community — not just athletics — and has become an integral part of the Sag Harbor School District community. Its support of artists, musicians, actors and athletes as they pursue a greater sense of accomplishment during their years in the district is surely worth coming out to celebrate on Friday.
