East Hampton Town Police Investigate Home Invasion in Springs

Two armed men tied up a Springs homeowner, held him at gunpoint and ransacked his home early Thursday morning, East Hampton Town police said in a news release Thursday morning.

Detectives are still investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Norfolk Street.

Police said the two men, armed with handguns and wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts, forced their way into the home. They demanded cash from Richard Stevenson, 56, then tied his hands behind his back as they searched his house. The two perpetrators fled with “unknown proceeds,” police said.

“Stevenson, who was uninjured, was able to free himself and call 911,” police said in the release.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call (631) 537-7575. Calls will be kept confidential.
