Last Tuesday, April 10, Douglas Elliman gifted Southampton Town with $50,000, which will be used towards the construction of a new playground at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays.
A check for the funds was presented by Carl Benincasa, Regional Vice President of Sales for the Hamptons, and accepted by Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman.
“Douglas Elliman has generously agreed to donate to Good Ground Park $50,000 so that the park can have a second playground constructed,” said Mr. Schneiderman at Tuesday night’s meeting. “On behalf of the Town, we are very grateful. We really appreciate the partnership with Douglas Elliman. With you guys stepping forward … it’s going in now because of Douglas Elliman and this very, very generous donation.”
“It’s really fantastic that they’re giving back to the community in this way,” said Southampton Town Board member Thomas John Schiavoni, a Sag Harbor resident. “I think this grows community and we look forward to more public/private partnerships like this, so thank you.”
Mr. Benincasa, a Southampton Town native and former attorney for the Town, says that he’s glad that Douglas Elliman supports further enriching the community.
“We are thrilled to be able to contribute and to focus on helping the people of this community,” he says. “We hope that this playground will be used and enjoyed by families for years to come.”
The recreation area for children, which is expected to be open by early summer 2018, will be located adjacent to the amphitheater in the park and will be open for public use.
