The speed limit between Flying Point Road and Head of Pond Road in Water Mill in Southampton will be reduced from 45 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour by the New York State Department of Transportation, according to a press release issued by New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. this week.
The DOT has also installed “Reduced Speed Limit Ahead” signs eastbound and westbound on Route 27 to alert motorists the speed limit is 30 miles per hour when entering downtown Water Mill, as well as new signage for pedestrian crosswalks between Halsey Lane and Proprietor’s Road.
