The Sag Harbor School Board on Monday accepted a $7,000 donation from The Tyler Project and Long Island Communities of Practice, which is slated to fund Rachel’s Challenge, a program that promotes a positive school climate.

The Tyler Project was established in 2014 in memory of Tyler Valcich, a Montauk man who took his own life at age 20, to help end the epidemic of youth suicide, which is one of the leading causes of death among 15-to-24 year olds.

Pierson Middle-High School assistant principal Michael Guinan will introduce Rachel’s Challenge, named in honor of a teen killed in the 1999 school shooting in Columbine, Colorado, starting in January.
