Dish: Summer of Tequila

Every summer season on the East End has an “it” drink — and at Almond, it’s the summer of tequila.

Based on popular demand, co-owner Eric Lemonides has dedicated the cocktail menu to tequila cocktails, collaborating with bartenders Bobby Weissleder and Michael Christenson on six specialty drinks.

“We concocted these creations and we are batching them,” Lemonides said. “It translates to a perfect cocktail every time and quickly.”

El Jimador Blanco anchors the Same ’ol Same ’ol, with Combier, fresh lime and salt, as well as the Mojito Margarita, with Diplomatico rum, mint and lime. Don Julio Blanco shines in the La Paloma, with fresh grapefruit, lime, agave and a splash of club soda, and the Oaxaca Old Fashioned is a twist on the classic drink, with Milagro Reposado, Montelobos Mezcal, agave and orange bitters.

The Rosalita (Jump a Little Higher) is a concoction of Casamigos Reposado, mezcal, antica, Campari and bitters, or take a shot of Casamigos Silver on its own.

“The batched cocktails are on display behind the bar at Almond in oversized mason jars allowing for ease of service dispensing them right into the glass,” a press release said. “The fun and whimsical idea started with Lemonides and the bartender duo crystallized it.”
