Cornelia Foss: New Paintings will open at the Peter Marcelle Project, 4 North Main Street in Southampton, will a reception on Saturday, June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will be on view through June 21.

Ms. Foss, a painterly realist, has been painting for over 50 years. Long considered a quintessential Hamptons artist, Ms. Foss is renowned for her fresh and personal vision. Her work interplays intense emotion within the formal constraints of design and painting, a place where realism meets abstract expressionism.

Featured in numerous solo and group shows both nationally and internationally, her work is included in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, Guild Hall, the Brooklyn Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Huntington Museum, among many other public and private collections. In 2009, Foss was elected as a member of the National Academy of the Arts.
