Pat Cowles, 82

Gardner “Pat” Cowles III, former owner and publisher of The Sag Harbor Express and scion of a publishing family that spanned three generations and owned newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations across the Midwest and the East Coast, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25.

Jennifer Houser, 66

Jennifer Houser, a longtime Sag Harbor resident, died in Southampton on January 14. She was 66 years old.

Laurence Bache Rossbach Jr.

Laurence “Laurie” Rossbach was born in Manhattan to Laurence Bache Rossbach and Edith Lowenstein Rossbach and died in hospice at the Peconic Bay Hospital in Riverhead.

Shana Rimel Conron, 79

Shana Conron died peacefully on December 19, 2018 after a period of declining health.

Clarke Whitehead, 48

Clarke Whitehead, a teacher in the New York City public schools, died at his home in Brooklyn, New York. He was 48 and had been ill for two years.

Richard Chauncey Wilson was surrounded by family when he passed away on Sunday, October 7, after a long battle with cancer.

Ira Gasman, 76

The lyricist Ira Gasman, who lived for many years on Partridge Drive in Sag Harbor and contributed columns to The Sag Harbor Express, died October 6 of heart failure. At age 76, he had lived his dream to write for Broadway.

Heather Kilpatrick, 72

Heather Kilpatrick, 72, died on the morning of Thursday, September 20 in the Sag Harbor home she has shared with her husband, Stephen Byers, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Denise Koegel, 64

Denise Koegel (née Theinert), 64, of Merrick, passed away on September 10, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre after a brief illness.

Obituary: George Hansen Jr., 79

George Mossin Hansen Jr., 79. of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of Sag Harbor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018, due to complications of Parkinson's disease.

Peter Whelan, 66

Peter Whelan, 66, of Sag Harbor, died at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown on June 16. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer last winter.
