As a part of its Meet the Artist series, GeekHampton, 34 Bay Street in Sag Harbor, will feature Camile Perrottet with an artists reception on Friday, March 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibit will be on view at GeekHampton through March 28.
The exhibit will feature a selection of digital images of Ms. Perrottet’s diary between East Hampton and Paris in 2014.
“Instead of writing my thoughts, emotions, and feelings, I decided to use my iPad and two apps: Pro Camera and SketchBookX,” said the artist.
Born in France, Ms. Perrottet worked as a free-lance photographer in Paris in the 1970’s. Arriving in New York City in 1979, she honed her political art in the mid-1980s, painting community murals in New York City with Artmakers Inc. Her sense of social engagement began as a teenager in the 1960’s, protesting the Vietnam War. It has continued with advocating for women’s rights and freedom of expression. Ms. Perrottet works with various media, including photography, painting, collage, installation and video.
