Former Southampton Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst and David Calone, an entrepreneur and former prosecutor, who are seeking the Democratic nomination for the 1st District congressional race, will meet in a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons on Thursday, June 2.
The debate will be held at the Southampton Town Senior Citizens Center at 25 Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays, starting at 7 p.m.
The two candidates will meet in a June 28 primary for the opportunity to face off against U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin, a first-term Republican, in the November election.
The format involves he candidates making timed opening and closing statements and answering a series of questions submitted by a panel of local media, members of the league, and the audience. The league’s Judi Roth will moderate the debate.
For those unable to attend, Southampton Town’s SEA-TV will tape the event and show it on Channel 22. The tape will also be made available for screening on East Hampton Town’s LTV.
