Due to what a school official described as a paperwork mistake when the district’s latest transportation contract with the McCoy Bus Company was drawn up, the Bridgehampton School Board on Wednesday found itself approving additional money for busing to the H.B. Ward Technical Center in Riverhead.
A bus route for three Bridgehampton students to the Riverhead facility, which is an Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) site, will now cost the district $85,500 for the year. The district originally budgeted $25,200. Additionally, a bus monitor will be hired for the route at a cost of $48,600.
The board approved the new sum 6-0, with board member Jennifer Vinski absent from the special meeting. The board also voted 6-0 to approve a transfer from one budget line to a separate transportation budget line to accommodate the additional busing costs.
