Breathe: Facials to Soothe Winter Skin

Spring may be right around the corner, but the East End hasn’t caught on — and neither has our skin.

To keep yourself glowing through these final frigid weeks, aesthetician Erica Leopold has an arsenal of facials to calm winter skin, which she performs at Salon Xavier, located at 1A Bay Street in Sag Harbor.

“I’ve worked with everything — I’ve been doing this for 29 years,” she said. “I’ve fallen in love with this machine that I bought two years ago. It’s called a Dermalinfusion, and I customize it to every skin condition. It’s painless, it happens quickly, there’s no downtime, so you could immediately go to some party afterwards. You won’t be red at all.”

Using a wand with a crushed diamond tip, Leopold resurfaces the skin while deep cleaning the debris from beneath the surface, simultaneously infusing nutritive serums into the skin’s cells, which increases hydration by 70 percent, she said.

“So you’re going to walk out of there with your skin plump and juicy and hydrated, and feel like a million bucks,” she said. “It will knock your socks off.”

A 30-minute express Dermalinfusion for the face and neck costs $200, followed by the most popular tier — Erica’s Signature Dermalinfusion for $300, a 60-minute treatment that includes the face and neck, an extensive massage of the upper body, and LED therapy. The “Red Carpet” Dermalinfusion, which is the full package: a treatment for the face, neck and chest, extensive massage, LED therapy and a Kansa Wand natural face lift, which lasts almost two hours, for $450.

“It’s a beautiful experience for both of us. Sometimes I feel like I get more out of the treatment than they do, because it gives me such sincere pleasure to take care of people,” she said. “I love the intimacy of it. And I feel like that’s what happens when you walk into Salon Xavier.”

The salon also provides European facials that range from $160 to $510. For more information, please call (631) 725-6400 or visit
