Come October, boots on the ground theater will give the new play adaption of Stephen Crane’s “The Red Badge of Courage” its New York premiere — and the Hamptons-based history theater troupe needs actors to fill the stage.

Written by Catherine Bush, the play will feature professional and student actors shining in the roles of Henry and his regiment. Open auditions will be held on Sunday, August 26, at 5:30 p.m. and Monday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Southampton Cultural Center, located at 25 Pond Lane in Southampton. Sides will be provided.

Josephine Teresi Wallace, who recently performed with boots on the ground theater in “The Miracle Worker,” has returned to direct this production, which will run from October 19 through November 4.

“The story centers on Henry Fleming, a young Union soldier who battles his inner demons as he runs from and eventually faces his greatest fears,” according to a press release. “This intimate and realistic journey of self-discovery is remarkably modern and relatable to every human being’s inner struggle at some point in their lives.”
