The East Hampton girls tennis team is on a collision course with unbeaten William Floyd, which sits atop the League VII standings and will host the Lady Bonackers on Wednesday. Floyd is the only team to have beaten East Hampton all season, doing so by a convincing score of 5-2 back on September 16.
Since that setback, the Lady Bonackers (7-1), which include players from Pierson and Bridgehampton, have won seven straight matches, the latest a 5-2 win over Sayville, a strong team from League III, on Monday.
Pierson junior Isabel Peters coasted at second singles, winning 6-1, 6-3. The all-Pierson team of Allie Clarke and Cece Combemale also won with relative easy, scoring a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second doubles. The team’s top doubles team of Lily Kot and Harriet DeGroot, lost their match at first doubles in three sets.
The Lady Bonackers will play at the Ross School on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. before their big match at Floyd on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The regular season will close out at home on October 8 against Mattituck at 4 p.m.
