Barbara Margaret DeCastro of Sebastopol, Calif., peacefully passed away on June 25, 2015.
Ms. DeCastro was born at Southampton Hospital to Pete DeCastro and the late Margaret DeCastro on September 7, 1959. In 1977 she graduated from East Hampton High School. Her education was continued at Morrisville State College where she graduated with a degree from their Business Technology School in 1983.
After a brief stay in East Hampton after college Ms. DeCastro moved to California to be closer to friends she had made in school and enjoy a less stressful environment. California was a great place for her as she enjoyed the weather, the culture and the people around her.
Ms. DeCastro loved Christmas and often returned to East Hampton to enjoy the season with her family. Hobbies included arts and crafts and making jewelry which she sometimes sold at local arts and crafts fairs. She took up a career as a social worker for Sonoma County in California. One of Ms. DeCastro’s goals in life was to help those less fortunate than herself. She had a big heart and her job gave her the opportunity to reach out and help others daily. Ms. Decastro always found that part of the job comforting and rewarding we can only hope her good intentions will be rewarded in the afterlife.
In addition to her father Pete DeCastro who resides in East Hampton she is survived by a brother Jim DeCastro who resides in Delray Beach, Florida and her niece Jamie DeCastro who resides in Carlsbad, California.
A brief service will be held for Barbara at the Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor on July 11 at 11 a.m. prior to her burial at Oakland Cemetery. The family would like to thank their friends, family and neighbors for their support throughout the difficult journey.
“We hear every prayer, feel every hug, and draw strength from your love,” said the family.
