The Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps announced last week that Cassandra Arbia is the recipient of the first annual Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Emergency Medical Education Scholarship of $5,000.
This new scholarship is open to members, their immediate family, and employees of South Fork ambulance corps or agencies, from Southampton to Montauk, who are pursuing education in paramedicine, nursing, or similar advanced medical training. Emergency Department staff at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital are also eligible. The scholarship comes from an endowed fund separate from regular Corps funding and was made possible by a gift to the Sag Harbor Ambulance Corps for the specific purpose of helping our EMS volunteers and providers further their education and in doing so benefit the whole of the South Fork.
Ms. Arbia is graduating from Pierson High School this year and is enrolled in the nursing program at Hartwick College in Oneonta. After receiving her nursing degree she plans to join the Navy with the goal of helping those in need at home and at sea.
