Andrew Wolcott Sykes died on December 13, 2019, in Hamilton, New Jersey, where he recently relocated.
Born on August 23, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Reginald and Nancy Jane Sykes, he lived most of his adult life in Sag Harbor working as an antique restorer and woodworker for several antique shops and numerous private clients. Mr. Sykes had a deep and abiding love for Sag Harbor as a special place and a special community, survivors said, and where he made real friends with other members of the AA fellowship as he came to terms with his addiction to alcohol in the last decade of his life.
He is survived by his only sibling, Gary Sykes; his sister-in-law, Trudy Sykes; two nieces; one great-nephew; and three great-nieces.
A memorial service is being planned for the spring in Sag Harbor.
