On May 30 and 31, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center’s Arts Academy performed Roald Dahl’s literary classic “Willy Wonka Jr.” at WHBPAC. Under the direction of Arts Academy director Kristen Poulakis and manager Justin Harris, two casts of elementary and middle school students took to the stage to give new life to this effervescent story.

Welcoming their first audience in over a year back into the theater for their After School Musical Theatre Program, ticket buyers were socially distanced in the WHBPAC Mollie Parnis Auditorium while the cast was fully masked during the performance.

“It is a great day for the performing arts, and for the students of the Arts Academy, to finally welcome an audience back into the theater,” said WHBPAC Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone. “Brighter days are on the way for our theater to continue flourishing after the difficult past year.”
